“Holy Baptism is full initiation by water and the
Holy Spirit into Christ’s Body the Church. The bond which God
establishes in Baptism is indissoluble.” Book of Common Prayer
Presenting yourself or your infant child for Baptism is a joyous and
momentous experience. Baptism is much more than simply a rite of the
Church done on a particular day. It marks the beginning of a new
relationship with God and fellow members of our Community. By it we
are adopted by God as God’s own, we are grafted into a huge family
of brothers and sisters, and we become sharers of the ministry of
Christ.
Holy Baptism is especially appropriate on very special days of the
Church year including:
• The Feast of the Baptism of Our Lord (2nd
Sunday after January 6th)
• The Great Vigil of Easter
• The Day of Pentecost (The 7th Sunday after Easter)
• The Sunday closest to All Saints’ Day (November 1st)
• During the Bishop visit
Saint Mary’s tries to schedule Baptisms on these
dates but will under certain circumstances (with the approval of the
clergy) administer Holy Baptism within the Eucharist as the chief
service on a Sunday or other feast day.
If
you are new to the Episcopal Church, or wanting to be baptized or
have a child baptized, the necessary preparation will take place in
a series of
Sunday morning classes
9:35-10:20am, Oct 19, 26, November 9, 16, 23.
For more information on how you can begin the
journey to baptism please
contact the church office to
register for the preparation class.
